Miina

Miina is a vibrant new musical project lead by front woman, Laura Mina Mitic.

Laura Mina and her longstanding creative partners (Pat Ferguson, Lo Waight, Graham Keehn, Jamil Demers and Chelsea Kanstrup) are seasoned musicians, having cut their teeth as the well-known, six-piece band Carmanah. For several years Carmanah delighted crowds across North America at venues including the Edmonton Folk, Winnipeg Folk, Hillside and Rifflandia music festivals.

In collaboration with producer Gus Van Go, Miina curated the essence of Carmanah’s original sound and infused it with new inspiration and palpable musical maturity. The result: Slow Motion, an impeccable, multi-layered debut EP that was released in August of 2023.

Miina’s dynamic first year saw two songs, Hiccup (ft. Lowell) and Pressure garner extensive radio play at, among others, ZONE Victoria, CBC-Radio2, SiriusXM/Verge, X92.9 Calgary, X100.7 Red Deer, SONIC Vancouver and CHME Les Escoumins. The band opened for Sam Roberts and Moontricks, and joined Bedouin Soundclash on tour. Miina performed at several venues including Rifflandia, Kaslo Jazz Festival, and Laketown Shakedown.

For Rifflandia Magazine, Michael Luis wrote, “Miina is the sound of the sunlight cutting through the foliage. Everything is brighter, funkier, more danceable, but with the same love for the environment and human emotion.”

Miina never fails to fill the stage. The energized musicians dive into their instruments and harmonies to create a flawless full-bodied sound that is underpinned by thoughtful and creative musicianship. A strong and affable female presence fills the forefront:  Laura Mina’s outstanding voice exudes power, precision, confidence and unfailing grace.

Miina will be releasing their debut full-length album in 2025, produced by Howard Redekopp (Mother Mother, Tegan and Sarah) and Erik Nielsen (City and Colour).

A good idea with passionate individuals behind it is what gets me going!

With training and work experience in Marketing, Event Management and Architecture along with being an International Sailing Coach for the past ten years I have been afforded the opportunity to work alongside many inspiring individuals and groups.

With this experience I came to realise my passion and strengths are within creating and building relationships as well as realizing an idea or team's potential and helping them present that potential to prospective clients both visually and verbally.

I am always looking for a challenge and for the opportunity to help an individual or team bring an idea/dream to fruition!
